Where have we been all this time? You remember of course that our last post was from the Boston / Cape Cod area, and we're now leaving Chicago, IL to go West (a very typical thing to do here, historically).
Our route was very snail-conform, i.e. not very straight (and not very fast), taking us from the Cape to Manhattan, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Ann Arbor (near) Detroit to Chicago.
We met old friends along the way and thoroughly enjoyed their hospitality (do not underestimate the power of the hot shower!). We also rediscovered Manhattan after a few year's absence, finally understood why all these people relocate to NJ despite the annoying commute, became freedom pilgrims at Independence Hall in Philly, admired the Amish people's smart business plan in PA Dutch country (no, they're not Dutch, but Germans, as in D(e)ut(s)ch), were not convinced by Pittsburgh's much trumpeted 'renaissance', went down memory lane (i.e. Main Street) in Ann Arbor (MI) and celebrated the 4th of July holiday with the requisite BBQ. Pretty busy times, no? Maybe, but never in a hurry ;-)
Enjoy the pictures, keep using the feedback function and look forward to our next post from out West!
