Charmed by New England

We have to litterally sneak out of our Canadian friend's house to substract ourselves from their hospitality: we have some way to go on our trip, and the next destination is awaiting: Vermont and New Hampshire in the US of A! Canadians might not agree, but Vermont is known for its maple sirup (pure!), NH votes first in presidential elections (until recently, that is).

After our urban interlude in Montréal, the White Mountain National Forest is exactly what we need! We're also getting more knowledgeable in camping-related sciences...

...after experiencing that most campsites are located next to busy roads, that tiny rivers mutate into powerful streams after nightly rainfall, that racoons love going through your garbage in the middle of the night, etc.

We stop (for coffee) at the posh Mount Washington Hotel, famous for hosting the 1944 Bretton Woods monetary conference (google for details). During our short stay, we observed all men escaping to the golf course while their wives, fiancées, girlfriends and doughters frantically planned one or more weddings...

Enough forests and mountains, Archies carries us down to the Atlantic shore!

New England is truly charming: Boston is the ideal compromise between an American and a European city with its mixture of sky-skrapers

and cultural heritage.

The cities North of Boston (among which Salem, whose claim to fame are the witch trials of the late 17th) remain in pre-season sleepiness....

....while Cape Cod, the Hamptons of New England, welcomes travelers on its (federally protected) 40+ mile seashore.

Fully rested, we're now ready to take on the Big Apple: (with Sinatra...) New York, New York!
